Michael Dodick to Speak on Human Factors at the IADC HSE&T Conference
By Dana Frawley
Michael "Buck" Dodick will be speaking at the IADC HSE&T Conference & Exhibition in Houston this week. His presentation,Human Performance: The Key to Rig Mobilization Improvement, is on Day 1 (Tuesday, February 2nd) at 11:30am.
People are an integral part of the Rig Mobilization process. They encounter challenges during rig moves such as:
- poor communication
- equipment shortfalls
- confusing priorities
- regulations
- and disbelief that success is possible.
Human Performance Improvement methods use a systemic, value-driven approach to problem solving and involve solutions from areas such as human resources, training, engineering, and outside subject matter experts. Starting a Performance Improvement campaign is the first step to lowering overall move times. The efficient rig move operations that follow save lives, increase retention, and shorten drilling cycles.
