In this high-risk industry is your organization able to provide your rig-crew a safe and efficient environment with the proper training and knowledge-transfer necessary to maximize operations?

Between 2003 and 2013, U.S. drilling companies experienced tremendous growth in rig counts as well as in its labor force. With this growth came the demand for high production and quick turn-around from its rig-crews. As demand increased, safety and operational efficiencies changed in priority, with that, the number of saefty related incidents began to rise on rigs.  Safety and efficiency are typically linked in the sense that if you increase one, the other will directly suffer. Understanding that both are not mutually exclusive frees leaders from this mindset and allows organizations in high-risk industries to incorporate a culture where both operational excellence and safety complement one another.

ExxonMobil's commitment to "hurt free days" is a testament to the dedication coming from leadership as well as the trust they have in their partners like Check-6 International to be an example not only to the oil & gas industry but across all of the  high-risk industries - that positive changes within an organization is not only possible but also sustainable, regardless of a transient workforce and changes in the environment.

NEW INDUSTRY RECORD

ExxonMobil recently celebrated a record breaking 1,059 (and counting) hurt free days on their offshore rig off the east coast of Sakhalin Island in Russia. This is the longest running hurt-free stretch on record in the upstream sector. As organizations recognize the need to focus on operational and cultural improvements, their desire is for partners who will not just "consult" but also be in the trenches with leadership as well as the frontline.

A big contratulations to ExxonMobil.
