"Dancing Under the Moonlight" Fundraiser

By Allison Satterwhite

Check-6's own Jennifer Eve participated in "Dancing Under the Moonlight," fundraiser for LifeChange Ballroom, an organization based in Oklahoma City. This organization works with at-risk youth to teach them the art and discipline of ballroom dance. Many of the kids have told Jennifer LifeChange literally saved their lives and got them out of gangs and set them on a straight path. Each of the celebrities (including NFL players Tommie Harris and Reggie Smith, along with Miss Oklahoma) was paired with a LifeChange ballroom dancer. Director of Marketing, Jennifer Eve, and her partner D'Angelo Eason have been practicing the Cha-Cha since January and won the competition Friday April 19th! Judges included two professional ballroom dancer instructors as well as Kyle Massey, an actor on Disney's Thats so Raven as well as starring in its spin-off Cory in the House, in which he played Cory Baxter. Kyle was the runner-up in Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars. Money raised during the "Dancing Under the Moonlight" event will be used to continue and expand the LifeChange Ballroom program, which is currently in 40 schools in the Oklahoma City metro area, assisting 1500 youth from 5th through 12th grade.

Jennifer Eve began her career in broadcast news in 1982, and worked her way up as a Producer, Assignment Editor, Reporter, and Anchor. Jenny was the main anchor during the Oklahoma City bombing in April of 1995, and she and her crew were awarded The Peabody Award, which is the highest honor given to broadcast journalists. On June 29, 2011, the day Jennifer retired from broadcast journalism and began her own media company, Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating issued a proclamation that it was "Jennifer Eve Day" in the state of Oklahoma.

Congratulations to Jenny and D'Angelo on their win!
