Tulsa Fast 40 2013

Check-6 was created in 2006 out of the need to bring the safety standards of military and commercial aviation to the high-reliability oil and gas industry. Brian “Bru” Brurud, a geologist and highly decorated U.S. Navy fighter pilot, is founder and chairman of Tulsa-based Check-6. The company’s name was derived from a clock code; a term fighter pilots use to describe watching the wingman’s most vulnerable location, behind their aircraft where they cannot see.

Check-6 expanded its operations this year by acquiring Industrial3D, a Tulsa-based industrial animator. Check-6 is also partnering with TD Inc., an offshore drilling company. Brurud expects to increase the number of employees and contractors to 500 worldwide. Today, that figure is 350, including 139 full-time employees.
