Executive Profile of Check-6 CEO, Yarema, "JJ" Sos. Stephen Pendergrass, a Video Production Coordinator at Diamond Offshore, is continuing his studies in Journalism. He spent several weeks interning with Check-6 in our Houston office, and wrote the following profile:
This Memorial Day weekend, we at Check-6 honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Memorial day was originally known as Decoration Day because it was a time set aside to decorate the graves in honor of those lost in the nation's Civil War. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers. By the late 1800s, many communities across the country had begun to celebrate Memorial Day and, after World War I, observances began to honor those who had died in all of America's wars. In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday to be celebrated the last Monday in May. We are privileged to live in a land of freedom thanks to the sacrifices of so many who have gone before.
Troy "Korn" Kehoe, VP of Product Development for Check-6 Training Systems, is also the Assistant Coach for the Bridgeport Bulls, who are working hard and enjoying a great season in the 10 year and under level. Korn has coached his son Logan's team since T-ball days, and early on came up with a great idea using a yoga ball to get the kids to really knock the ball out of the park! Good luck guys with the rest of your season! We're cheering you on!
The Check-6 Team completed the 150 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin over the weekend of April 20-21, 2013. Great job Bluto, Kathy, Jeeter, Gonzo, David and Letitia on your ride and on the money you raised to help research MS!
