We'd like to honor the efforts of a former Navy Medic and current Baker Hughes employee who helped a family during the violent Oklahoma City-area tornadoes the evening of May 31st. This Memorial Day weekend, we at Check-6 honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Memorial day was originally known as Decoration Day because it was a time set aside to decorate the graves in honor of those lost in the nation's Civil War. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers. By the late 1800s, many communities across the country had begun to celebrate Memorial Day and, after World War I, observances began to honor those who had died in all of America's wars. In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday to be celebrated the last Monday in May. We are privileged to live in a land of freedom thanks to the sacrifices of so many who have gone before.
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has released it's final Safety Culture Policy Statement. It defines characteristics of a robust safety culture, which we heartily believe in and coach daily at Check-6. The media release from May 9, 2013 is below.

Good luck guys with the rest of your season! We're cheering you on!
